What is AI Shopify web design?

AI Shopify web design means using AI to plan, code and write a Shopify website far faster than a traditional build. We use Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding tool, which works directly with your Shopify theme files through the Shopify CLI. It can create sections, build product page layouts, write product descriptions and fix bugs from a plain-English request.

Our Shopify web design process

Here's how a typical Shopify website build works, from first call to launch.

1. Brief, brand and products

We start with your goals, your customers and the stores you admire. We gather your logo, brand colours, product data and any existing site content, and plan the homepage, collection pages, product page and checkout.

2. Claude Code builds the theme

Working on a development copy of your theme, Claude Code creates the sections, templates and layout from our design, and drafts product descriptions and meta descriptions from your product data. Nothing touches your live store at this stage.

3. Shopify developers review and test

Our developers review the code, check speed and accessibility, test on mobile and desktop, and place test orders to make sure the checkout, discounts, shipping and emails all work.

4. Launch and grow

Once you approve it, we publish the theme, set up redirects from any old site, connect analytics and keep improving the store based on what customers actually do.

Shopify apps, integrations and custom functionality

A Shopify store rarely works alone. We connect it to the tools your online business already uses, including Xero for accounting, email marketing platforms such as Klaviyo, review apps and stock or fulfilment systems. Where an app doesn't do what you need, we can build custom apps or custom solutions instead.

Because Claude Code can read your existing code, it also helps us untangle older stores: removing unused apps, fixing slow scripts and tidying up customer data and product information before a redesign.

Who owns the store and the code?

You do. The store sits in your own Shopify account and the theme code is yours.

Can Claude Code work with Shopify?

Yes. Claude Code works with Shopify theme files through the Shopify CLI, so it can build sections, edit templates and fix code. Shopify also publishes developer tools that help AI coding assistants follow its documentation.

Can Claude edit my Shopify store?

It can, when it's connected through Shopify's official tools and given access. We work on a development copy of your theme, and a developer reviews every change before it goes live.

Is it safe to connect Claude to Shopify?

It's safe when access is limited and changes are reviewed. We use the minimum permissions needed, never share payment details with AI tools, and keep every theme change in version control so it can be undone.
